WellPoint offers drug coupon

OB/GYN News,  Feb 1, 2003  by Sally Peters

WellPoint Health Networks is offering its members coupons to purchase an over-the-counter antihistamine at a reduced price. The health care company is partnering with Wyeth, manufacturer of Alavert (loratadine), to offer the discount. WellPoint says in a statement that the discount is "part of an ongoing effort to help' protect the affordability of health benefits." The company is sending the discount coupon to all members who have received prescriptions for Claritin, Allegra, Zyrtec, or Clarinex within the past 6 months.

With the coupon, members will be able to purchase a 1-month supply of Alavert for about $11, which is less than the average brand-name drug copayment under the plan.
