A venture to provide a new, live flight and airport information service for mobile phones has been revealed by airport operator BAA, in partnership with Digital Rum, a provider of secure, scaleable mobile solutions.
Digital Rum has developed and deployed BAA's i-mode site. It created a site supported by a customer relationship management solution, which is designed to be user-friendly and intuitive and includes live flight information and details of airport facilities.
BAA's i-mode site also includes the option for users to pre-book services such as car parking, currency, lounges and travel insurance and allows i-mode customers to access airport and travel information free of charge.

Frequent travellers can also subscribe to the live flight information service offered by BAA, accessing unique live arrivals and departures information for flights to and from BAA's seven UK airports. BAA said the venture with Digital Rum has enabled the creation of a new digital channel for its content, providing a wider choice for customers when accessing airport and flight information.
BAA's i-mode site can be found within the Travel Information section of the O2 i-mode menu. O2's i-mode experience is scheduled to be introduced in the UK this month.
