US carriers increase fares

In order to narrow losses, last week the big US airlines increased their domestic ticket prices by USD10-20 roundtrip, depending on the length of the flight.
AMR Corp's American Airlines increased ticket prices systemwide on Wednesday (11 May) by USD2-6 roundtrip. On Thursday (12 May) Delta Air Lines Inc increased roundtrip fares by USD10-20. On Friday (13 May) American Airlines followed Delta Air Lines, said an AMR spokesperson. By Friday afternoon (13 May), the fares were increased by Northwest Airlines Corp, UAL Corp.'s United Airlines, US Airways Group Inc, America West Holdings Corp and Continental Airlines Inc, reported the Associated Press.
