Delta Air Lines and US Airways Group have made decisions to increase flights to St Lucia after Air Jamaica temporarily suspended flights to the island due to local safety regulations.
Air Jamaica reportedly suspended flights last week to Barbados, Grenada and St Lucia to comply with local safety regulations. To make up for this US Airways increased its flights from two times to three times a week, while Delta has said that it will operate five instead of two flights a week from 1 April.

Air Jamaica suspended the flights after the local aviation authority followed the US Federal Aviation Administration in insisting that the airline carries out major maintenance every 15 months instead of every 18 months. The airline operated 12 weekly flights to St Lucia from the US, The Associated Press reported.
