Airlines prepare for stormy weather

United Airlines (OTC Bulletin Board: UALAQ) has issued waivers on tickets to and from destinations affected by severe winter weather in the Midwestern United States.

The airline has said that these waivers are effective immediately and apply to all customers ticketed on or before 4 January 2005, for travel through 6 January 2005. The waivers reportedly cover flights from or to airports in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio and Wisconsin. United customers can check flight information before going to the airport via http://www.united.com.

Separately, American Airlines has instituted a winter storm policy in anticipation of a snowstorm expected to affect Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, Missouri and Kansas. This policy will reportedly allow passengers travelling to, from or through the affected states to change their reservations without penalty.

According to the airline affected passengers may make changes to their travel plans through 6 January 2005.
