UK airlines appeal for government terror insurance
Airline Industry Information, Sept 6, 2004

Airlines in the UK are set to look for government help if insurers withdraw cover for terror attacks.
Talks between airlines, the government and trade representatives are taking place to try to convince insurance companies to continue to provide cover for terrorist attacks using radioactive, biological and chemical weapons.
Insurance premiums for airlines have rocketed since the 11 September 2001 terror attacks on the US when passenger aircraft were used as weapons, but only the US is providing specific cover for airlines.
US-based AIG is currently the only insurer offering terror insurance for airlines and UK and European carriers are now hoping that the UK or the European Union can come up with a system based on the US model, reports the Mail on Sunday.
