Delta Air Lines has announced that its 185 flight superintendents have ratified a new five-year employment agreement which includes a 10% pay cut and productivity enhancements.

The workers represented by the Professional Airline Flight Control Association (PAFCA) voted by a clear majority in support of the new deal, with 95% voting yes. A spokesperson for Delta Air Lines said that it was a strong signal that the flight superintendents wanted to support the reorganisation of the airline and that they are instrumental in Delta Air Lines achieving operational excellence.

The airline said that the new contract will not only include productivity targets and a pay cut but will bring the workers' benefits into line with non-union employees, leading to significant savings for the airline.
