Scandinavian carrier SAS has announced plans to move its ticket handling operations to India, and will reduce some 170 jobs from its Danish operations.
The carrier has decided to outsource the process of handling tickets to a company in India, where the cost of labour is cheaper, in an attempt to cut costs. Moving the handling of its 25m tickets annually to India is expected to save the carrier around DKK30m per year.
SAS has not yet formed an agreement with an Indian company, but is said to be holding talks with one firm and has another two or three firms lined up, reported Reuters.
