Man linked to Air India bombing denies involvement

AIRLINE INDUSTRY INFORMATION-(C)1997-2003 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

A man whose phone number was on an airline ticket linked to the 1985 bombing of Air India flight 182 claims he knew nothing of plans to blow up the aircraft.

The man's telephone number was reportedly listed as a contact number on one of two tickets police believe were used in Vancouver to check-in bomb-laden suitcases on flights that connected with Air India aircraft. The ticket buyers never boarded the aircraft themselves.

The man is a witness in the trial of two Sikh men accused of plotting the Air India bombing, which killed 329 people, and a related explosion that killed two Tokyo airport workers.
