American Airlines hoping for more self-service and e-ticket success

American Airlines is hoping for more success with its self-service and electronic check-in options over the Christmas period.

American offers the AA Self-Service Check-In machine and Curbside units at 90 airports across the US, and online Flight Check-In at its web site, http://www.AA.com.

The airline has estimated that 47 million passengers have used the new services, with usage tripling in 2003, and this year's Thanksgiving bringing record usage.

With 95% of American domestic passengers using e-tickets and 50% of international passengers selecting the electronic system, American Airlines is hoping that its focus on electronic ticketing and check in can help it gain even more customers looking to simplify the airport experience.
