The South Korean resort island of Cheju is reportedly planning to launch a discount airline as early as next year.
The new airline - designed to counter frequent hikes in ticket prices by Korean Air Lines and Asiana Airlines - requires approval from the country's transportation ministry.
If approved, the airline is expected to launch operations between Cheju and Seoul in 2003, using 40-seat turbo-prop aircraft, reported Reuters.
