American Airlines and United Airlines launch e-ticket agreement

American Airlines and United Airlines have launched an interline electronic ticket agreement.
The agreement between the two US airlines allows customers to use a single electronic ticket when their itineraries include travel on both carriers. The enhancement will make it easier for both airlines to accept electronically ticketed customers from each other, thus providing a more seamless travel experience. Previously, customers with electronic tickets would be required to convert to a paper ticket before transferring between carriers.

Interline electronic ticketing provides both airlines with access to the other's computer reservation systems, therefore both airlines can now issue interline electronic tickets through their respective reservation centres, airports and ticket offices. United Airlines also has the ability to issue interline electronic tickets that include any combination of United Airlines, American Airlines, Air Canada, Continental Airlines and Northwest Airlines space.
