PlanetEye, an online travel planning service, has licensed technology from Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) to launch its new website at http://www.planeteye.com.
Using Microsoft's World Wide Media eXchange (WWMX) technology, the site gives the user the ability to see pictures of the attractions in the area they intend to visit and helps with obtaining bookings at hotels, restaurants and attractions in the featured locations.
The site is funded by two venture capitalists and backed by Canadian entrepreneurs. Travel writers are featured on the site with blogs from various locations around the world. The site also encourages uses to create Travel Packs shortlisting their desired travel ambitions.
Microsoft's WWMX technology powers the site's interactive maps, which are central to the user's navigation around the site.
