CORNING, a U.S. manufacturer of optical fiber for the telecommunications industry, entered into an equity venture with Ficap, the Brazilian subsidiary of Chilean telecommunications firm Madeco. The new company Ficap Optel, will make optical fiber cables to sell to the fast-growing South American telecommunications market.
