Berries & yogurt prevent bladder infections - where the mind goes, the body follows

A glass of fruit juice--freshly squeezed or made from concentrate with no sweeteners--cut urinary-tract infection risk by one-third in a Finnish study of more than 300 women, most under age 30. And when the juice was made from berries, such as cranberries or raspberries, infections were reduced by more than two-thirds.

Certain dairy products protect even more: Women who ate at least three servings a week of yogurt and other dairy products containing live bacteria had about 80 percent fewer bladder infections. The researchers recommend one to two glasses of berry juice or 1-2 cups of whole berries a day.--Dianne Pattie Lange
