* Walter Schmid, a Swiss inventor and winner of the European Solar Award for 2003, for developing Kompogas, a low-emission clean fuel on which cars can run. Kompogas, manufactured in 18 European power plants, is made from household garbage collected in public storage facilities called Green Bins.
The garbage is also made into certified organic compost and sold for private use on European gardens.
