Vegetarian Times, Nov, 2003
I have not knowingly eaten or taken anything for 9 years that had any animal product/by-product in it. I just found out that the thyroid hormone I take comes from animals, and I feel violated. Please advise your readers who are strict vegetarians that if they happen to need thyroid hormones, they need to tell their doctor they are vegetarians which I did--and that they only want a plant-based or synthetic hormone.

I recently read "Fast Food" (September 2003). You mentioned Chipotle Grill several times in the article as an excellent veggie restaurant. I used to be a huge fan of Chipotle--their guacamole is fantastic however, I recently learned that they're owned by McDonald's.
I think it's important for vegans and vegetarians to know that while Chipotle does meet their dietary needs, the money for that burrito is still supporting McDonald's. Not all vegetarians and vegans are concerned with this issue, but some are. I feel it's just a good bit of info to pass along.
