No E for the knee - Quick Studies - vitamin E not effective for treating arthritis - Brief Article

Nutrition Action Healthletter,  Jan-Feb, 2002

Vitamin E doesn't relieve arthritis pain or stiffness, as earlier studies suggested. Among 77 people with arthritis of the knee, those who took vitamin E (500 IU a day) reported no less stiffness and pain than those who took a placebo.

What to do: Don't expect vitamin E to relieve the symptoms of arthritis. Other studies are under way to see if it can slow the progression of arthritis.
