Israel uses tear gas, rubber bullets in Palestinian prison transfer

JERUSALEM (AFP) — Israeli authorities have used rubber bullets and tear gas to break up protests during a routine transfer of Palestinian prisoners from a jail in the south, sources on both sides said.
Palestinian prisoner affairs minister Wasfi Kabha told AFP that three Palestinians were wounded when rubber bullets were fired during the transfer of hundreds of detainees from the prison, south of the desert city of Beersheva.
He charged that "many others" suffered the effects of tear gas and that Israeli guards beat Palestinian prisoners with batons.
