NEW YORK -- Consumers are bringing fewer rolls of film in for developing. Photofinishers processed an estimated 583 million rolls of film in 2004, according to the Photo Marketing Association (PMA). That is a decline of more than 25% from the 781 million rolls processed in 2000, when photofinishing was at its peak.
The dollar value of the photofinishing market is also declining, the PMA reports, from a peak of $6.23 billion in 2000 to an estimated $4.58 billion last year.
