Mitsui Chemicals plans to build phenol plant in China. (Newsdesk: Cooperation).(Brief Article)

According to a resource, Mitsui Chemicals of Japan plans to build a 250 000 t/a phenol plant in Asia during 2005-2006, and it is expected that the new production site will be located in China.

Mitsui is currently undertaking feasibility evaluation of the plan, which is dependent on feedstock supply, product delivery and other factors. If the new plan is eventually realized, Mitsui's phenol capacity will reach 1 million t/a, ranking first in Asia.
