Goodyear labor pact to be pattern if ratified; R/PIC panel says job security, plant protection 'unprecedented'

The tentative agreement reached Aug. 20 by Goodyear and the United Steelworkers of America will be used as the pattern for negotiations between the union and other tire makers as long as it is ratified.

The USWA also is working to get contract summaries to the nearly 20,000 workers at 14 unionized tire and rubber plants before information and ratification meetings are held in the next couple of weeks.
