Rhea White has made so many contributions to parapsychology that she could receive this honor for several reasons. For example, she pioneered the testing of children utilizing fantasy and imagination, and explored the relationship between their ESP scores and attitudinal variables involving the "sender" and/or test administrator. The list of her contributions also includes a classic article on "old" versus "new" methods of response to targets in ESP tests that stimulated several innovative procedures. She has written three key articles on the experimenter-subject relationship, and she has brought the insights of feminist psychology and postmodern thought to bear on the development of parapsychology as a science.

Rhea White's most unique contribution, however, has been in the area of archival studies. She has carved out a well-deserved niche for parapsychology in the area of bibliographic control through her PsiLine Database System, her two books on sources of information in parapsychology, her bibliography chapters in Advances in Parapsychological Research, and the journal she initiated: Exceptional Human Experience (formerly Parapsychology Abstracts International), for which she has abstracted hundreds of key articles. She has served with distinction as editor of the Journal of the American Society for Psychical Research and as a member of the editorial boards of Advances in Parapsychological Research, the European Journal of Parapsychology, the Journal of Religion and Psychical Research, and Theta. As a founding member of the Parapsychological Association she served as the PA's first secretary, and as its president in 1984.

It is no exaggeration to say that parapsychological science has become more articulate, more literate, and more widely disseminated as a result of Rhea White's imagination, diligence, and devotion.
