The current events political cartoon contest

Current Events,  Sept 30, 2005

Are you ready to do some cartooning of your own? Enter the CE political cartoon contest! Draw your cartoon in the box below and send it, postmarked by October 28, 2005, to Current Events Political Cartoon Contest, 200 First Stamford Place, P.O. Box 120023, Stamford, CT 06912-0023.

Here are a few hints to get you started:

* Read a newspaper. What topics stick out in your mind? Do you agree or disagree with the topics? What point would you like to make about them? Try to pick a topic that has made national news.

* What techniques would best convey your point? Some cartoonists use irony, metaphors, and exaggeration.

* Some cartoonists use words to help convey cartoons' messages. Will a caption, a headline, or a label improve your cartoon?

The editors of Current Events will select one grand-prize winner to receive $50 and the chance to have his or her cartoon printed in CE. We'll also choose two runners-up to receive $25 each.
