PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 27, 2000
SunnComm, Inc. (OTC:NQB SUNX) released more information, today, about its newly acquired technology and its patents (pending).
Peter H. Jacobs, President and CEO said, "The company recently acquired ownership to certain patent applications for propriety copy-protection and encryption software which is intended to be used to copy-protect digital music, video and other intellectual properties delivered on compact disk (CD), Digital Video Disk (DVD) or via the Internet. These proprietary technologies, if accepted by the major recording and video duplication companies, may provide the company an opportunity for substantial revenues and with significant annual growth opportunity."
Jacobs further commented that, "These technologies will allow media companies to distribute their content on disk or over the Internet without fear of piracy. A shrink wrapped CD or DVD purchased off-the-shelf which was manufactured using this technology cannot be 'burned' onto another disk or copied to other storage media. Internet content down-loaded to a computer disk, once burned to a CD cannot be re-copied to another disk or other storage media." He went on to say, "These technologies will allow companies to offer their products for sale over the Internet or on disks without any degradation in quality and with built in copy protection. The technology is not format specific; therefore content providers are free to utilize any of the current digital formats available to distribute their product. The downloaded product will meet the music industry audio standards, when recorded on a CD writer at 16-bit, 44.1k bandwidth. No additional hardware or modification to existing CD writers is required," he said.
John Aquilino V.P. Product Development said, when asked about timing for the release of the product, "The company should have a demonstrable pre-release beta prototype within 30 days. We have performed enough test to have a comfort level high enough to move to the next level in the development process. When re-leased for commercial application, the product will be marketed under the trademark 'SunnComm Sentinel R', and will be offered for license to all of the major record, video and film reproduction manufactures."
