Google has introduced a new device protection program, Pixel Care+, which will replace both Google Preferred Care and Fi Device Protection in the U.S. The company says the updated plan is designed to provide “a higher level of coverage, service, and peace of mind” for Pixel and other Google hardware owners.
What Pixel Care+ Includes
The program offers an expanded set of benefits compared to its predecessors, including:
- Unlimited accidental damage claims
- $0 screen and battery repairs
- $0 post-warranty malfunction claims
- Coverage for mechanical issues and extended warranties
- Genuine Google parts and certified replacements
- Priority support from Pixel experts
- Self-service claims through the Google Store
- Optional loss and theft protection
- Free upgraded shipping, including next-day replacements
Pricing and Eligible Devices
Google’s website lists pricing based on the device model. For example, Pixel Care+ for the upcoming Pixel 10 will cost $10 per month or $199 for two years.
The program launches immediately in the U.S. for new devices, including:
- Pixel 8 and newer smartphones
- Pixel Watch 2 and newer models
- Pixel Tablet
- Fitbit Ace LTE, Fitbit Versa 4, Fitbit Sense 2, Fitbit Charge 6, and Fitbit Inspire 3
Subscribers to existing Preferred Care or Fi Device Protection plans will be transitioned to Pixel Care+ over the coming months.
Enrollment and Claims
Customers can add Pixel Care+ within 60 days of purchasing an eligible device. Claims can be filed directly through the Google Store or the My Pixel App, with the option to schedule repairs at a chosen time and location.
Why It Matters
With Pixel Care+, Google is strengthening its ecosystem of device support at a time when smartphone repairs are becoming a bigger consumer concern. By offering $0 repairs and unlimited claims, the company is aiming to compete more aggressively with AppleCare+ and Samsung Care+.
