A startup betting on the rise of “AI employees” is introducing a memory layer designed to keep those digital workers on the same page. Reload has launched Epic, a tool that gives software-building agents a persistent, shared understanding of what they are building and why—while also announcing $2.275M in new funding led by Anthemis with participation from Zeal Capital Partners, Plug and Play, Cohen Circle, Blueprint, and Axiom.

The company positions its platform as a system of record for AI agents, letting enterprises onboard, permission, and supervise agents regardless of model or vendor. Epic, built on top of that layer, aims squarely at a persistent pain point in multi-agent development: agents forget context, drift from requirements, and rarely share durable knowledge across sessions or tools.

The $2.275M raise will fund hiring and infrastructure to support more agents operating concurrently, according to the company. Investors such as Anthemis and Zeal Capital Partners have been backing applied AI tools that bridge productivity gains with compliance and observability—precisely the wedge Reload is pursuing.

Early adoption will likely center on teams already piloting multiple AI code assistants across shared repos. For these teams, a measurable win looks like fewer reverts, faster onboarding of new contributors and agents, and a smaller gap between architectural intent and implemented code.

Use Cases and Guardrails for Agent Memory at Scale

Consider a platform team rolling out a new payments microservice. Agents can scaffold endpoints and tests quickly, but scope creep and naming drift frequently slip in. With Epic maintaining the canonical API spec, data types, and nonfunctional requirements, subsequent agent proposals are checked against the same blueprint. When a team rotates to a different model or editor, the memory persists, not just the chat log.

Still, memory at scale introduces risks: stale or incorrect artifacts can institutionalize errors; broad agent permissions can widen blast radius; and silent model updates can shift behavior. Best practices here include:
