Peter Steinberger, the developer behind the viral autonomous agent OpenClaw, is joining OpenAI in an undisclosed role focused on the next wave of personal AI agents. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman praised Steinberger as a “genius” and signaled that agentic capabilities will become central to the company’s products, from ChatGPT to its developer platform.
