Regal will bring the complete first season of Heated Rivalry to U.S. movie theaters this November, repackaging the six-episode hockey romance as three ticketed double features. The limited engagement runs from Nov. 6 through Nov. 30 and is expected to reach more than 650 theaters, giving an existing streaming season an unusually broad communal big-screen presentation.
The rollout is more expansive than the Regal branding alone suggests. Regal will show the programs at more than 275 of its own U.S. locations while distributing them across a wider network that includes AMC and Cinemark venues, according to The Hollywood Reporter. That distinction reconciles the frequently cited 650-plus theater figure: it describes the multi-chain footprint, not a roster of Regal-operated cinemas.
Three two-episode programs, sold separately
Each screening pairs two episodes and carries a $9.99 ticket price. The first program combines “Rookies” and “Olympians”; the second joins “Hunter” and “Rose”; and the final installment pairs “I’ll Believe in Anything” with “The Cottage.” Watching the entire season theatrically would therefore require three admissions, totaling $29.97 before any ticketing fees or theater-specific charges.
The structure makes this a theatrical presentation of television rather than a feature-film conversion. Audiences will see the season in its original episodic divisions, but in paired blocks intended to play as longer cinema events. Regal locations will also offer welcome content from cast members and creator-director Jacob Tierney, as reported by Variety.
Participating theaters are expected to sell two limited-time themed cocktails, “Summer in Montreal” and “Russians Don’t Blush.” Those details underline how the engagement is being positioned as an event for a show with an established audience, rather than simply a catch-up opportunity for viewers who missed its streaming run.
What the 650-theater rollout means
Reports from Variety, The Hollywood Reporter and ABC News agree on the essential U.S. logistics: the Nov. 6-30 window, the three paired programs, the $9.99 price and a footprint of more than 650 theaters. The Hollywood Reporter’s breakdown provides the clearest explanation of the distribution arrangement, separating Regal’s 275-plus owned locations from the larger exhibition network it is supplying.
That model allows Regal to function as both exhibitor and distributor for a television event that will also play in rival circuits. For audiences, it should mean availability beyond cities served by Regal locations. For theaters, the programming offers a recognizable serialized title in a format closer to an event screening than a conventional movie release.
The release is timed ahead of Heated Rivalry’s second season, which is expected in 2027 and is in production, according to Variety. Regal senior vice president of U.S. content Brooks LeBoeuf said the engagement was designed as a shared viewing experience between seasons. The theatrical run does not alter the show’s streaming identity: season one is available through Crave and HBO Max.
A streaming romance moves into cinemas
Created by Tierney and adapted from Rachel Reid’s Game Changers book series, Heated Rivalry follows rival hockey players Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, played by Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie. Its move to theaters packages a full season around the relationship at the story’s center, rather than selecting a finale or producing a new standalone episode for cinemas.
Sphere Abacus, the show’s distributor, has described a broader big-screen opportunity extending to North America, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. But the corroborated reports provide the firmest specifics for the United States. Time Out separately reported a Canadian Cineplex engagement, though the available accounts do not establish comparable dates or venue totals for Canada or other international territories.
For now, the confirmed plan is a U.S. engagement built around three separate programs: episodes one and two, three and four, and five and six, playing from Nov. 6 through Nov. 30 for $9.99 per pairing. It gives the first season a limited theatrical afterlife before the series returns for its announced second season in 2027.
