Mynt Inc., the owner of Philippine digital-finance platform GCash, began trading on the Philippine Stock Exchange on Oct. 20 after raising 60.9 billion pesos, or about $967 million, in the country’s largest initial public offering. The listing under the ticker GCASH puts one of the Philippines’ most widely used consumer-finance platforms into public markets and gives investors a new way to assess the economics of the country’s fast-growing digital-payments sector.

The offering surpassed Monde Nissin’s 52.2 billion-peso 2021 flotation, according to LSEG data cited in a Reuters report. Mynt is backed by Globe Telecom, Ant Group and Ayala Corp. Its arrival is also a test of whether the Philippine market will assign a durable public valuation to a platform that combines payments with lending, savings, insurance and investment products.

A record deal, with proceeds split between company and sellers

The headline 60.9 billion-peso figure describes the gross size of the fully completed transaction, not solely fresh capital for Mynt. The company sold shares at 6.60 pesos apiece, and Reuters reported that 8.03 billion shares initially accounted for a 53 billion-peso offering. Full exercise of the overallotment option added 7.9 billion pesos, bringing the final total to 60.9 billion pesos.

The arithmetic helps show the scale of the option: at the 6.60-peso offer price, the completed transaction represents roughly 9.23 billion shares, implying about 1.2 billion additional shares beyond the base deal. That is a calculation from the published deal value and offer price, rather than a separately reported final share count.

Not all of the gross proceeds accrue to Mynt. The Asian Journal, citing the offering details, reported that about 10.6 billion pesos of gross proceeds came from newly issued shares; the balance included shares sold by existing holders and shares tied to the overallotment. That distinction is material for investors: the transaction’s record-setting size is larger than the amount of new cash placed on Mynt’s balance sheet.

The gross IPO total included newly issued shares, sales by existing holders and the fully exercised overallotment option.

Mynt said it planned to use proceeds for digital-financial-services expansion, product development and general corporate purposes, according to Reuters. Before the final pricing, a pre-listing report identified commitments from BlackRock, FIL Investment Management and the International Finance Corp. at up to 6.60 pesos per share. Reuters said more than 20 cornerstone investors committed about $500 million in total.

Institutional support was paired with a retail distribution effort

The IPO did not rely only on large international institutions. Philippine Stock Exchange President Ramon Monzon said 140,725 GCash subscribers invested roughly 1.1 billion pesos through the GStocks PH feature, according to Philstar reporting. That represents a small share of the overall deal by value, but a broad base of individual buyers for an offering in which the issuer’s product is already embedded in many consumers’ financial routines.

The retail channel is strategically relevant because GCash is both Mynt’s principal operating business and the route through which some users could buy the shares. It also creates a different shareholder mix from a conventional institutional-led flotation. Whether those investors remain holders after listing, and how much liquidity ultimately develops in GCASH, will be important factors in the stock’s market behavior.

Mynt entered the market with operating figures that illustrate why the company could mount a transaction of this size. Its prospectus reported 41.5 million monthly active users in the three months ended June 30, according to Reuters and the Asian Journal. The platform processed 9.84 trillion pesos of payment transactions during the first half of 2026, Reuters said, citing the prospectus.

Payment volume should not be equated with revenue or earnings: it measures the value moving through the platform, rather than Mynt’s retained income. Still, the figures indicate the reach that underpins the company’s ability to distribute additional financial products. Mynt Chief Executive Martha Sazon said nearly 90% of GCash customers came from low- to middle-income households, a demographic concentration that may shape both the company’s growth opportunity and its credit and consumer-protection exposure as it expands services.

Early trading offered limited guidance

Shares moved only modestly above the offer price in early dealing, but the published accounts differ on the precise opening print. Reuters’ corrected account said GCASH opened at 6.60 pesos, matching the offer price, before rising to 6.71 pesos. Philstar reported an opening price of 6.64 pesos. The available reports do not establish whether those numbers reflect different moments in the opening session or a discrepancy in reporting, so neither should be treated as a definitive standalone opening price.

The limited initial premium contrasts with the scale of the fundraise but does not by itself settle investor demand. The debut occurred amid a broader Asian market selloff, Reuters reported, potentially obscuring the market’s immediate view of Mynt-specific prospects. The more consequential measure will be whether the company can translate its large payments base into profitable, growing financial services while meeting the disclosure and governance demands of a public listing.

For the Philippine market, the offering resets the domestic IPO benchmark. It also leaves a clearer division for investors to watch: Mynt’s 60.9 billion-peso transaction was historic in gross size, while the value of the listed company will depend on the performance of the GCash platform long after the allocation and overallotment mechanics of the deal have passed.
