9 Best Druva Security Cloud Alternatives & Competitors in 2026

Druva’s homepage now calls the platform “The Resilience Cloud for the AI Enterprise,” and the name “Data Security Cloud” is gone from its visible copy. G2 still lists it as Druva Data Security Cloud, though, so plenty of teams search for that name when a renewal lands.

I’ve evaluated and run enough of these platforms to know the label matters far less than one question: when ransomware or a compromised admin hits, can you find a clean copy and get it back fast? That’s how I judged the best Druva Security Cloud alternatives & competitors in 2026.

Short on time? Here are the highlights:

Eon is the best Druva Security Cloud alternative for teams whose ransomware risk now sits in cloud databases and object storage, because it keeps immutable, logically air-gapped copies in a separate vault account and rolls back only the records an attack hit.

Among the security-minded competitors, Rubrik leads on threat hunting, Cohesity on isolated cyber vaulting for big data centers, Commvault on SAP and Oracle recovery with Cleanroom, and Dell PowerProtect on separately governed Cyber Recovery vaults.

The other alternatives fit narrower lanes: Veeam for immutable copies of VM estates, Acronis for backup plus endpoint security in one agent, CrashPlan for laptop fleets, and NAKIVO for immutable repositories on a tight budget.

Platform	Security strength	Where backups live	Ransomware detection
Eon	Logically air-gapped vault, record rollback	Separate vault account	Add-on
Rubrik	Threat hunting on backups	Your AWS accounts or Rubrik-hosted	Threat Monitoring IOC scans
Cohesity	FortKnox cyber vaulting	Cohesity-, partner-, or customer-managed	Threat hunting (Enterprise Edition)
Commvault	AirGap and Cleanroom	Self-managed or Commvault Cloud	Threat Scan (malware scanning of backups)
Dell PowerProtect	Separately governed vault	Customer-run appliances, on-prem or cloud vault	Dell Cyber Detect
Veeam	Immutable-by-default Vault	Self-managed or Veeam Vault	AI-powered malware detection, YARA scans (by edition)
Acronis	Security built into the agent	Local storage or Acronis Cloud Storage	Anti-ransomware, plus backup scans in Advanced
CrashPlan	Immutable copies, legal hold	CrashPlan or your own storage	Confirm in demo
NAKIVO	Immutable Linux repositories	Customer-installed repositories	Malware scan (paid editions)

What a security-first Druva replacement has to prove

Druva sets a fair bar here, because Data Lock makes the retention on immutable snapshots unchangeable once it’s enabled at the policy level. It’s limited by default to Enterprise and Elite licenses.

Coverage counts too. Druva’s own AWS support matrix (dated October 2025) says RDS Cluster backup and restore is not currently supported, while its May 2026 RDS Airgap guide says clusters can be protected, so confirm it against your estate.

So any replacement should clear at least that bar, and these are the four things I check first.

Ransomware resilience you can verify. Detection has to look at what an attacker changes, and for a managed database that means the logical contents, since services like RDS and Aurora never expose their storage as files for a scanner to read.

Logically air-gapped isolation. The copies should live outside the production blast radius, in a vault the production account can’t overwrite or delete. Druva answers this by keeping its air-gapped copies in its own cloud, which works, so the real questions are who governs that vault and who can delete from it.

Clean recovery points. Having a snapshot from before the attack is half the job. The better tools tell you which point is the last clean one and let you restore only what was hit.

Credential separation. A stolen production admin key shouldn’t be able to reach the recovery copies, so look for time-bound vault access, a separately governed vault, or both.

1. Eon for ransomware recovery in cloud databases and object storage

Day to day, it works as cloud data protection and recovery that connects through a single read-only role with no agents, appliances, or clusters.

Its vaults are immutable, logically air-gapped, and kept in a dedicated vault account separate from production. Vault access is time-bound, so a stolen production key doesn’t reach the recovery data.

Ransomware detection (add-on) correlates multiple independent signals (such as row-count drops, schema changes, and ransom notes) into one weighted score.

It reads the logical contents of database backups, because managed database services don’t expose backup files to scan. Database detection is still in early access.

When something does go wrong, it points you to the last clean recovery point and can also catch and roll back damage from rogue AI agents. Rolling back the exact records hit takes minutes, because you can restore an instance, a database, a table, or only the rows a SQL query matches.

That last option is the one I’d demo first, since later good writes stay put while the damaged rows come back. Global Search finds files and database records across backups in seconds, which helps an incident team size the damage before anyone restores anything.

Cloud Backup Posture Management (a category the company created) continuously discovers resources, classifies them for PII, PHI, and financial data, and applies policy without manual tagging. That’s a security control in itself, since the bucket nobody tagged is often the one nobody protected.

It holds SOC 2 Type II and ISO/IEC 27001:2022. As of October 2026, pricing is usage-based, billed per GB per month on protected storage, with no tier ladder and flexible spending commitments, and the company cites up to 50% lower cost through global deduplication.

It doesn’t protect laptops or endpoints, so if Druva mostly covered a remote workforce, keep an endpoint tool for that.

The platform’s on-prem support is limited, so an estate that’s still mostly on-prem needs a separate tool for the data center. Its reference list is also shorter than the incumbents can show.

2. Rubrik for security-led cyber recovery

If your security team will co-own the backup platform, Rubrik Security Cloud speaks its language. Threat Monitoring is the headline feature, and it’s built for people who hunt threats for a living.

It scans backups for indicators of compromise using intelligence from Rubrik Zero Labs and other trusted sources, although file-based scanning reads storage files, and a managed database like Aurora or RDS never exposes its contents as files to scan.

Cloud protection comes in two deployment models. In the customer-hosted one, the compute and storage run inside your own AWS accounts, and you own the networking, the IAM roles, and the security posture around them.

Rubrik Managed Cloud Protection hosts that infrastructure for you and keeps backups in an encrypted, immutable vault, logically isolated from your cloud account. Both models share the same policy engine, recovery experience, and immutable backups.

The tradeoff is that the managed model moves data outside your AWS organization by design, and Rubrik’s own blog says that makes it a poor fit if policy requires backups to stay inside your own account boundary. It also comes with a narrower slice of configuration options today.

As of October 2026, Rubrik doesn’t publish a price list, so every quote goes through sales. I’d shortlist it for an estate that still carries a large on-prem footprint and a security team that wants to hunt for threats inside the backups themselves.

3. Cohesity for isolated cyber vaulting in large data centers

Cohesity’s case rests on reach into big, older data centers. It closed a major merger on December 10, 2024, and now sells two product lines under the Cohesity Data Cloud packaging: DataProtect and the enterprise backup software that came with that deal.

For a security review, the piece to look at is Cohesity FortKnox, its SaaS-based cyber vaulting service.

The Cyber Vaulting option gives you an immutable, logically air-gapped vault in a Cohesity-managed cloud or a customer-managed on-premises site.

Delivery is flexible as well. You can run it Cohesity-managed, partner-managed, or customer-managed, and the software subscription runs in public clouds and on-premises on certified platforms.

Threat Hunting and Monitoring, Sensitive Data Classification and Monitoring, and Cyber Recovery Orchestration are in the Enterprise Edition, so scope that edition if security is the reason you’re switching.

As of October 2026, Cohesity publishes no dollar pricing. Subscriptions run 1, 3, or 5 years and include premium support around the clock, every day of the year.

Two product lines means two licensing models to reconcile, because the software from the merger still licenses on front-end terabytes protected. That’s a manageable spreadsheet exercise for an estate that’s still mostly on-prem, and more platform than a cloud-first team needs.

4. Commvault for clean recovery in SAP and Oracle estates

Commvault earns its place on application awareness. It’s SAP-certified, with what the company describes as tight API integration for protecting critical databases, and it handles SAP on Oracle in the same estate.

The security pieces are Commvault AirGap, licensed separately by capacity, which Commvault says establishes immutable, isolated backups, and Commvault Cleanroom, sold under the line “Cloud Ready Resiliency.” Together they cover the isolated copy and, as the name suggests, a clean room to recover into.

The current platform release, Commvault Cloud Unity, was announced on November 12, 2025, at SHIFT 2025. Metallic AI sits underneath as the automation layer, with Arlie agents and an MCP server for teams experimenting with AI-driven operations.

The catch for security teams is that application-consistent SAP protection is agent-based. The SAP HANA Agent, the SAP Oracle Agent, or the DB2 Agent has to be installed on both source and target clients.

Every agent is one more thing to patch and harden.

As of October 2026, Commvault Cloud has no public dollar pricing, and self-managed licensing is measured on front-end terabyte capacity. I’d pick it for an estate that’s still mostly on-prem and heavy on SAP and Oracle, where application-aware recovery matters more than anything else on this list.

5. Dell PowerProtect for separately governed Cyber Recovery vaults

Dell’s security story centers on PowerProtect Cyber Recovery, which isolates critical data “in a separately governed vault with its own controls, credentials and management plane.” That’s credential separation spelled out in a product page, and the vault can sit on-premises or in the cloud.

Dell Cyber Detect is the detection layer inside Cyber Recovery, and Dell puts its accuracy at 99.99%, citing a 2024 ESG report commissioned by Index Engines, the maker of the CyberSense engine behind it. Dell also markets a $10 million Cyber Recovery Guarantee.

Underneath, PowerProtect Data Domain appliances do the heavy lifting. Dell cites typically 75:1 data reduction and up to 4x faster restores (on its all-flash model) from its own internal testing, and says over 17,000 customers trust Data Domain.

The core of the stack is customer-run hardware, and the deepest integration (Storage Direct Protection) assumes PowerStore or PowerMax arrays. For a Dell storage shop that’s a strength, and for a cloud-first team it’s a lot of iron to buy and maintain.

As of October 2026, Dell lists no prices. Product pages say Contact Sales, and PowerProtect Backup Services, Dell’s SaaS option, advertises “predictable, subscription-based pricing” without a number attached.

6. Veeam for immutable copies of VM estates

Veeam’s home turf is the hypervisor estate. Veeam Backup & Replication 13 protects VMware vSphere, Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV, Proxmox VE, oVirt, and Scale Computing HyperCore, plus AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud workloads.

The security feature I like most is Veeam Vault, its hosted storage, where every backup is immutable by default and immutability can’t be turned off, so nobody can disable it with a borrowed password.

As of October 2026, Vault costs $4.50 per TB per month for Archive, $14 for Foundation, and $24 for Advanced, billed annually upfront, and Veeam notes that prices may vary by region. Minimum retention is 180 days on Archive and 30 days on the other two tiers, and Archive retrievals are billed separately at $20 per 200 GB.

Foundation can bill for restores above 20% of subscribed capacity in a year, and that’s the number to model, because a real ransomware recovery is exactly when you read a lot of data back at once.

Veeam Data Platform licenses are metered per workload through the Veeam Universal License, and they don’t cover Microsoft 365, Salesforce, or Kasten, which are sold separately. A free Community Edition protects up to 10 workloads if you want to test before talking to sales.

On AWS, the current docs call the product the Veeam Plug-in for AWS, deployed as backup appliances, so plan for something running in your account. It’s the right pick for VM-heavy estates with a large on-prem footprint.

7. Acronis for backup and endpoint security in one agent

Acronis Cyber Protect puts backup and security in a single agent and console. You get ransomware and cryptojacking protection, antivirus and anti-malware, URL filtering, and fail-safe patching that backs up an endpoint before a patch installs, and the Advanced edition adds malware scans of backups.

EDR is there too, in cloud deployments only. For midmarket IT that would otherwise buy an endpoint security product and a backup product separately, that’s one less agent on every machine.

Standard is recommended for up to five devices and Advanced for more, while Backup Advanced adds hypervisors like Nutanix AHV and SAP HANA support. The Acronis Cyber Platform (formerly Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud) is the version MSPs sell, with RMM and PSA built in plus MDR and XDR connectors.

As of October 2026, per-device subscriptions start at $85 a year for Standard, $109 for Backup Advanced, and $129 for Advanced. Three-year terms save up to 29% and five-year terms up to 40%.

Every machine, and every node in a cluster, needs its own license, which adds up fast on a server-heavy estate. Features also split by deployment, since Microsoft 365 backup, Google Workspace backup, and EDR are available only in cloud deployments.

It’s the right Druva replacement when what Druva protected was mostly laptops and a handful of servers, and you’d like security and backup from the same vendor.

8. CrashPlan for self-serve recovery across laptop fleets

When a laptop gets wiped, encrypted, or swapped for a new one, CrashPlan lets the user restore it with “no IT ticket,” and that self-serve restore and device migration is most of the appeal.

It covers endpoints, servers, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Google Workspace. The Enterprise plan adds immutable copies, legal hold, retention policy, and full audit logging, along with the option to keep data in CrashPlan, Azure, AWS, or your own S3 storage.

As of October 2026, small-business endpoints cost $7.33 per user per month billed annually at $88, servers $15.75 per server per month, and Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace $3.67 per user per month.

CrashPlan also says longer retention and more restores cost $0 extra, and there’s a 14-day full-featured trial.

Buyers seem happy, too: CrashPlan cites a 4.9 average customer rating on G2.

CrashPlan’s lineup doesn’t include cloud infrastructure services like RDS, so it replaces the endpoint half of Druva and leaves the AWS half uncovered. Enterprise features such as bring-your-own storage, SSO, and legal hold also sit behind quoted pricing for 250+ users.

If laptops were the main reason you bought Druva, though, it’s the most direct swap on this list.

9. NAKIVO for immutable repositories on a budget

NAKIVO Backup & Replication (currently v11.2.2) is the budget pick for virtualization teams that want immutability without a big contract. The vendor says 16,000+ businesses in 190 countries chose it.

You install it yourself on Windows, Linux, or a NAS, or deploy it as a virtual appliance or AWS AMI. Even the Free Edition writes to immutable local Linux-based repositories, which is a solid starting point for a small estate.

Backup malware scanning, cloud immutability, and tape storage need the free trial or a paid edition, and backup to cloud, tape, or dedup appliances starts at Enterprise Essentials.

As of October 2026, subscriptions cost $2.45 per workload per month for Pro Essentials and $3.20 for Enterprise Essentials on one-year terms, and perpetual licenses start at $229 per socket. The Free Edition covers up to 10 workloads and five Microsoft 365 users for one year.

AWS coverage stops at EC2, with no RDS or Aurora protection. Because it’s customer-installed and customer-run, hardening the backup server itself is your job, and attackers know where backup servers live.

It fits a cost-conscious VMware, Hyper-V, or Proxmox shop that’s comfortable running its own software and wants immutable copies on day one.

Questions to ask in the security review

• Where do the backup copies physically live, and which account or vendor can delete them?
• Can a stolen production admin credential reach the vault, and how long does any vault access last?
• How does the tool detect ransomware in a managed database that never exposes its storage as files?
• How does it identify the last clean recovery point, and can you restore one table or a set of rows?
• What does a large restore cost once read fees, retrieval charges, or data transfer are counted?
• Which security features come with your edition, and which are priced separately?

Get to a clean restore you can prove, whichever Druva competitor wins

The vendor that wins your security review should be the one that answers those six questions in a live demo, using your data and your worst-case scenario. A restore from a logically air-gapped vault while production credentials are revoked is very hard to fake on a slide.

So before the next renewal call, write down where the copies live, who can delete them, how you’d find the last clean point, and what a full restore would cost. Then make every vendor on your shortlist fill in all four boxes.

FAQ

Which Druva alternative handles ransomware in managed databases best?

The strongest option reads the logical contents of database backups (row-count drops, schema changes, and ransom notes in the data), because RDS and Aurora never expose storage as files to scan, although that kind of detection is still in early access. Pair it with a logically air-gapped vault and row-level restores.

Are Druva backups logically air-gapped?

Druva keeps backups “automatically isolated in Druva’s secure cloud environment, away from the customer’s primary network,” so copies sit outside your account by design. Immutability comes from Data Lock, available by default on Enterprise and Elite licenses.

What is Druva Data Lock?

Data Lock is Druva’s immutability setting, and once it’s enabled at the policy level, the retention of immutable snapshots can’t be altered. It covers policy snapshots for EC2, EBS, RDS, DynamoDB, and Redshift and is available by default to customers with Enterprise and Elite licenses.

Which Druva competitors keep backups outside the production account?

Rubrik’s managed model, Cohesity FortKnox, Dell’s Cyber Recovery vault, and Veeam Vault all hold copies away from production, each with a different boundary. Most cloud-native options do the same, so ask every vendor which account the vault lives in, who governs access to it, and whether anyone holding production credentials can delete from it.
