Disney used its D23 Entertainment Showcase in Anaheim, California, on August 14 to lay out a theatrical and streaming pipeline stretching to 2029, putting firm dates behind sequels including Incredibles 3, Coco 2, Lilo & Stitch 2 and The Bluey Movie. The presentation also supplied production credits for Pixar originals, a live-action Tangled, Marvel Television’s VisionQuest and the next Avengers film.
The volume of titles is typical of a D23 showcase, but the calendar offers a useful view of Disney’s release strategy: familiar brands dominate the near-term theatrical schedule, while Pixar is using the same period to introduce an original feature, Ghost Market. Disney’s official recap is also more restrained than a later third-party roundup, making the difference between directly confirmed announcements and additional reported claims important for audiences tracking the slate.
Release dates extend Disney’s calendar to 2029
Pixar’s longest-range announcements were Incredibles 3, set for June 16, 2028, and Coco 2, due in November 2029. Peter Sohn will direct the third Incredibles film, with Dana Murray and Brad Bird producing. Lee Unkrich returns to direct Coco 2, rejoining co-director Adrian Molina and producer Mark Nielsen, according to Disney’s official showcase account.
The Pixar calendar begins sooner with Gatto, arriving March 5, 2027. Enrico Casarosa directs and Andrea Warren produces the film, whose announced voice cast includes Mark Ruffalo as Nero and Laurence Fishburne as Rocco. Ghost Market, an original Pixar feature directed by Trevor Jimenez and Jesse Andrews and produced by Becky Neiman-Cobb, follows in March 2028. That placement gives Pixar one original film amid two major sequels in the announced 2027-29 stretch.
Disney’s live-action and family schedule is similarly franchise-led. The Bluey Movie, written and directed by Joe Brumm, is set for August 6, 2027. Ludo Studio is collaborating with BBC Studios on the feature. Disney also set Lilo & Stitch 2 for May 26, 2028, with Chris Sanders directing; production is scheduled to begin in Hawaiʻi later in 2026.
The studio said its live-action Tangled is filming in Spain for a March 31, 2028 release. Michael Gracey directs Teagan Croft as Rapunzel, Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider and Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel. In a separate family-animation entry, Ice Age: Boiling Point is scheduled for an exclusive theatrical release on February 5, 2027, directed by John C. Donkin and produced by Lori Forte.
Streaming and Marvel arrive first
Not every major reveal is a far-off theatrical date. Marvel Television’s VisionQuest is scheduled to debut on Disney+ on October 14, 2026, while Disney’s live-action/animated hybrid Oswald series is set for February 17, 2027. Jon Favreau is credited as the latter project’s creator, writer, co-director and executive producer.
On the film side, Avengers: Doomsday remains Disney’s nearest large-scale franchise release among the announcements, dated for December 18, 2026. Disney said tickets were already on sale during the showcase. The sequence places a Marvel streaming launch roughly two months before the theatrical event film, while the rest of the slate alternates animation, live action and family titles across subsequent years.
The event itself was not a later-season announcement dump. D23 had announced in November 2025 that its Ultimate Disney Fan Event would return to Anaheim from August 14 through 16, 2026, and Disney’s account places the Entertainment Showcase on the opening day. Some materials and clips were presented to the room, but the official recap does not establish that all footage shown was publicly released.
What the official account does and does not confirm
A Disney-and-Pixar-focused roundup published October 6 by Explosion Network lists further items, including Zootopia 3 in early development, a Disney Animation feature provisionally titled Clay, casting information for Hexed and a purported Frozen 3 villain update. Those details should be treated as reported claims rather than as announcements independently corroborated by the available official Disney showcase recap, which does not include them.
The two accounts also differ slightly on dates for Ice Age: Boiling Point and Gatto. Disney lists February 5, 2027, and March 5, 2027, respectively. Explosion Network gives February 4 and March 4 for Australian cinemas. The one-day gap may reflect territory-specific scheduling, but neither account explicitly explains it, so Disney’s dates are the appropriate default for the announced slate rather than interchangeable worldwide dates.
That distinction narrows a sprawling presentation into a more reliable timetable. The officially documented program runs from VisionQuest in October 2026 through Coco 2 in November 2029, with Disney balancing dependable library properties against a smaller number of new propositions such as Ghost Market and Oswald.
