CodePink gathers at Marine station

Oakland Tribune,  Mar 10, 2008

The anti-war group CodePink launched a new round of anti-Iraq War protests Sunday night in front of downtown Berkeley's U.S. Marine recruiting station on Shattuck Avenue, where they have rallied since last fall. Activists began to gather in front the officer recruiting station Sunday, but the number grew Monday, police said.

No permit was needed for the weeklong protest, timed to coincide with the fifth anniversary of the beginning of the war, because it is not a permanent event, Lt. Diana Delaney said. No tents have been set up and the organization has not broken any laws, she added.
