Scottish legal changes

Mental Health Nursing, Nov/Dec 2001

Radical changes in the mental health laws of Scotland were announced as Mental Health Nursing was going to press. The proposals are based on the Milan committee's recommendations and health minister Susan Deacon said the vast majority had been accepted. Key measures include procedures on compulsory treatment, independent mental health tribunals and stronger rights for patients and carers.
