Quick Ideas At Home

Southern Living,  Aug 2007

Astoria Canisters combine clear glass jars with brushed-metal lids, setting a new standard for organization of kitchen and bath essentials. With their delicate beading and intricate finials, the canisters also make elegant vases.

For fab flowers: Available in three sizes, these pieces work beautifully when you want to arrange a few fresh blooms. For a different kind of floral fantasy, fill the canisters with water and submerge large blossoms, such as the lilies shown here.

In the kitchen: The airtight canisters are just what you need for storing dry foods such as pasta and coffee. Rubber seals on the lids help keep contents fresh.

For the bath: Arrange the canisters on your vanity, and fill them with bath salts of different kinds. Use them to organize cotton swabs, soaps, and other essentials.

The large Astoria Canister measures 5 x 11 inches and holds 70 ounces; the medium canister measures 5 x 9½ inches and stores 56 ounces; the small measures 5 x 8¼ inches and has a capacity of 40 ounces.

Use these attractive canisters as vases. Fill some of them with water, sink the flowers, and replace the metal tops.
