Novo Nordisk last month received FDA aproval of NovoLog, a rapid-acting, insulin, analogue, for the treatment of diabetes in children.

The incidence of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes is increasing in children," stated Peter Aurup, vice president of clinical development, medical and regulatory affairs for Novo Nordisk. Approximately one in every 400 to 500 children and adolescents has type 1 diabetes.

NovoLog was approved by the FDA in 2000 for use in adults in the United States.
