BJ's hits Atlanta

Drug Store News,  May 20, 2002

NATICK, Mass. -- BJ's Wholesale Club, as expected, made its debut in the Atlanta market earlier this month with the opening of three of the five clubs it plans for the market. All three of the new warehouse clubs have pharmacies, a relatively new feature for the chain.

The Atlanta-area clubs opened in Woodstock, McDonough and Cumming, Ga. BJ's operates 134 clubs and 57 gas stations. By opening pharmacies, it matches competitors Costco Wholesale and Sam's Club, two chains with significant pharmacy and HBC businesses.
