Drug Store News, May 20, 2002 by Michael Johnsen
MEDINA, Ohio -- Discount Drug Mart has announced several promotions and title changes in an effort to better define each person's contribution to the organization. The new structure is meant to communicate "how we're positioned for the future as we're adding stores, and also as we get more involved in business strategies and [initiatives] outside the company," reported Tom McConnell, chief financial officer and senior vice president of finance. Discount Drug Mart would not comment as to any specific store-growth targets for the near future.
Among the changes, Discount Drug Mart chairman Parviz Boodjeh was given the additional title of chief executive officer. John Wright, former president, will snare the chief operating officer position with Donald Boodjeh, the former treasurer and secretary. "John is the senior executive and Don is the heir apparent if you will," McConnell said.
John Gans was promoted to }~ resident of the retail division from vice president of purchasing, and Douglas Boodjeh assumed the position of treasurer and chief administrative officer. Boodjeh formerly was vice president and HBA buyer. David Baytosh was named senior vice president of marketing, while Pete Ratycz was promoted to vice president of pharmacy from director of pharmacy operations.
McConnell, a 13-year Discount Drug Mart veteran, continues as chief financial officer. He adds the title senior vice president of finance.
