A bumpy ride - reader forum - Letter to the Editor
Advocate, The, Feb 18, 2003 by John Twinam
I was saddened to open your yearend issue to find yet more sniping at Dan Pallotta ["Building a Better Ride," January 21]. I dated Dan for a few months in 1983. I was a senior at Tufts University; Dan had recently graduated from Harvard. Handsome, brilliant, and well-educated, Dan easily could have disappeared into corporate America to make his fortune. Instead, he used his considerable talents to become the most successful AIDS fund-raiser this side of Elizabeth Taylor. And how has the community paid him back? With catty remarks from otherwise kind-hearted souls who seem to prefer death and suffering to raising funds in the "wrong" way.
