International Representative appointment

PSA Journal,  Sept, 2004  by Kenneth Cheng

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Mehmet Bayhan as a PSA International Representative (IR) of Turkey. The appointment is effective immediately. Professor Bayhan studied architecture and worked as a freelance architect for a time. He has since been involved in photography for thirty years. In 1976, the professor was elected president of the only photographic club of that time. He has won awards from both national and international exhibitions.

Professor Bayhan was one of the founding members of the first university level photography department in 1979 and was its first full-time instructor. In 1989, he established a third Photography Department of Turkey at Yildiz Technical University and holds the distinction as being the very first university photography professor of Turkey. Five years ago, Professor Bayhan was appointed as the Founder Dean of "Arts and Design Faculty" of Yildiz Technical University. In addition to Turkey, he has received many honorary titles and honorary memberships from other countries, among which are Japan, Bulgaria, Austria, and Romania. Professor Bayhan also received the title "Chevalier de l'Ordre des Palmes Academiques" of France.
