PSA Journal,  Sept, 2004  by Burton M. Kitson

Burton M. Kitson, FPSA St. Louis, MO

Burt Kitson died suddenly on June 15, 2004, at the age of 82. Kitson joined PSA in 1955 and the St. Louis Camera Club in 1957. He received his Associateship in 1963, his Fellowship in 1974, and a Service Medal in 1987.

His PSA jobs were too numerous to detail, but some of his favorite jobs were Color Slide Division Chairman, Conference Program Chairman for the old Techniques Division, and member of the Honors Committee.

Burt was very active in St. Louis Camera Club serving as President, Newsletter Editor, Membership Chairman, and Mississippi Valley Chairman. He was also active in the Belleville (IL) Camera Club where he was an Honorary Member and in Collinsville Area Camera Club where he also served as Membership Chairman.

He was an active competitor and judge at the local and international level, and he attained his 5th star in Color Slide Division and 2nd Star in Photo Travel. Kitson was a life-long student of photography and art. Consequently, he was a popular program presenter and best known as Mr. Red-Yellow-and-Blue for his devotion to the power of primary colors.

Burt often said, "My greatest pleasure in photography has been my many wonderful friends whom I treasure, and my ambition in photography has always been to enjoy myself and have fun."
