Photojournalism Division Quarterly Competition

PSA Journal,  Dec, 2006  by Keith Vaughan

After a period of dormancy since 1995, the Photojournalism Division (PJD) announces the return of the PJ Quarterly Competition. For at least the first year, this will be a digital-only contest, with the first competition to take place in March 2007. A possible Director has been approached, to supervise the contest. Working press photographers will judge and offer comments on selected entries.

Unlike the original PJD Print and Slide Quarterlies, in which everyone could compete in one competition, there will be two classes of entry: Class B for beginners (non-star) and Class A (Advanced-Star rated only). All images entered, in either class, should not have received an acceptance in a PSA-recognized international exhibition. Ribbons will be awarded to First, Second, and Third place, with an appropriate number of Honorable Mentions, in each contest, in both divisions. The objectives of this competition are two-fold: to bring new people into the Division, and to provide established members of the PJD with a forum to test out new work. Watch for further details in a future news column.
