Pictorial print of the month

Skagway, Alaska, by Linda Hollinger of Philadelphia, PA, won Picture of the Month for July and First Place in Monochrome Prints. Our judge, Mark Aksoy, who judged Picture of the Month for the first time this month, expressed himself very clearly: "In my mind, this scenic is a winner! It reveals a dynamic Alaskan wilderness of turbulent water flows and ever-changing weather. It is a perfectly balanced composition and well exposed, exhibiting a wide range of tones. The river rapids lead the eye into the picture and, along with the fog patches in the background, form a network of bright lines which unify the composition. The dark forested foreground areas also stand out beautifully against the misty background."
