Walkout for health care - On the Line - Brief Article

Progressive, The,  March, 2003

Louisville, Kentucky

Members of Local 761 of the International Union of Electronic Workers/Communication Workers of America picket outside the General Electric plant in Louisville in January. GE workers held a nationwide two-day strike in response to GE's decision to raise health care expenses for its employees. Union officials said the increases will cost the average worker an additional $300 to $400 annually. It was the first national walkout at GE since 1969.
