As tears go by
Interview, Feb, 2008 by Steven David
Dear Interview,
I adored Zoe Cassavetes's film Broken English, so when I saw that she was being interviewed by Wes Anderson in your July issue, I couldn't have been happier--that is, until I reached the very end of the article and landed on two of Anderson's questions: "Did you ever cry during the shooting?" and "But no tears streaming down your face on the set right in front of everybody?" Both of these I found to be incredibly sexist. Would Anderson ask a male director such things? Cluelessness about this might not be surprising coming from Wes Anderson, but from Interview?
