Sunset strip: blue skies are overrated

Interview,  August, 2007  by Brendan Lemon

Even the most spectacular sunsets seem to defy capture by both description and photography, but they have successfully been paid tribute by summer 2007's makeup palettes. Used to create a bold sunset of an eye that sails across the color spectrum, from sunflower yellow to lime green to bright cerise, they're one good reason to get excited about long summer nights.

Although it sounds intimidating to use so many shades on just one pair of eyelids (who can forget the eye shadow of many colors sported by Joan Cusack's character in 1988's Working Girl?), this look echoes Caribbean vacations rather than the Staten Island Ferry. After all, who can deny that summer evenings are best spent enjoying something fruity and fortified while gazing at the sun tipping over the horizon? And better yet, what if that beautiful sight was emblazoned upon your companion's eyes?
