Split decision

Interview,  Oct, 2006  by Anne-Marie Santoro,  Mark Buzolich

Dear Interview,

I loved what Nelly Furtado had to say regarding performing--about not blaming the audience if she's not getting the reaction she wants from them, and about letting go of the idea that each time she goes onstage she has to somehow change the world, that it's enough to just put on the best show she can. Well amen to that! As someone who's been listening to Furtado's music since she first hit the scene six years ago, I can hear how her music has evolved and is moving in new directions. Now, reading this interview, I can hear how her outlook has evolved as well, be it from maturity, motherhood, or whatever. Thanks for a revealing look at one of my favorite artists.

ANNE-MARIE SANTORO Via the Internet

Dear Interview,

I've been a Nelly Furtado fan for as long as she has been around. So naturally I was looking forward to her interview in your August edition. Long story short: what a lame interview. So I had to read the interviewer's bio. Ban carriage horses in NYC? Is Ms. McKay afraid of stepping in something or does she advocate using more gasoline to move people around Central Park? Next time have her interview one of the horses--it might be more enlightening.
