Little Children

Interview,  Oct, 2006  by Jarret McNeill

Preview: LITTLE CHILDREN (New Line) Directed by Todd Field

For his first film since 2001's Oscar-nominated In the Bedroom, actor-turned-director Todd Field tackles another tale of parents and offspring. Based on Tom Perrotta's best-selling 2004 novel, Little Children tells the story of a group of young married types in a suburban town, whose lives are both constricted and defined by their relationships to children, playgrounds, public pools, and tiny streets. Whether Little Children delivers on the understated beauty of In the Bedroom remains to be seen, but it certainly has all the right ingredients, including top-flight talent (Kate Winslet, Patrick Wilson, Jennifer Connelly, Noah Emmerich) and weighty subject matter (parenthood, infidelity, sex crimes).
