Book smart: the fall collections brought to mind some of literature's most memorable heroines. Interview presents three who will jump off the pages and into your closet
Interview, Oct, 2005 by Annabel Tollman
Capturing our imaginations and our hearts, the heroes and heroines of literature make an indelible impression on us and are so embedded in our minds that while viewing the fall fashion shows, we couldn't help but be reminded of our favorite fictional friends. Who, after all, hasn't been inspired by The Fountainhead's Dominique Francon's cool, marble-like demeanor and longed to exude her icy platinum perfection? Or been seduced by the glittering yet darkly frivolous existence of The Great Gatsby's Daisy Buchanan? Or admired the stoic, unselfish camaraderie of Dr. Zhivago's Lara, not to mention her military-chic wardrobe? When inspired by such vivid and potent characters, dressing like your muses in order to become more like them seems not just enjoyable but inevitable. Of course, the real joy of playing literary dress-up is the freedom to create your own story whenever and wherever you choose.
