Keane

Interview,  Sept, 2005  by Michael Koresky

REVIEW: KEANE (Magnolia) Directed by Lodge Kerrigan

A long way from his camp-classic performance as Jonesy in Dreamcatcher (2003), British actor Damian Lewis plays a New York City loner maniacally retracing his steps near the Port Authority bus terminal, where he lost his young daughter. Yet the more he seeks to unravel, the more his journey seems to be made up of dead ends and false hopes. Ever the humanist, director Lodge Kerrigan has some redemptive tricks up his sleeve. Remarkably tight and vigorous, Keane sidelines with its subtle emotional wallops.
